A written work especially those considered of superior or lasting artistic merit, "A great work of literature". Its subject is nothing less than human life and human experience. Every poem, play or story deals with some aspect of human life and experience. It has sometimes been said that literature is like a mirror that reflects life for us. Why we study Literature? Let's check it out! One is that literature is fun. It is delightful. One of the basic purposes of literature has always been to entertain, and anything that is genuinely entertaining. The other answer is that literature teaches us many things. If not only delights, it instructs. Those two answers are as old, or older than the Roman poet Horace.

Why do we need Literature?
Literature offers a way of linking emotional with intellectual whereby if students are to learn reading effectively, they have to remember significant turns in plot, and this will only happen, in the first instance, if those turns have emotional impact. So it harnesses the emotional to the cognitive. When literature does what it should, though, it acts against the alienation of the emotional and the intellectual. Hence, with that,
